John Deere 72-lb Cast Iron Rear Wheel Starter Weight

72-lb cast-iron starter weights can be bolted to the outside of the rear wheels for ballast. BM18089 hardware kit required for each starter weight ordered, BM18101 hardware kit available to add 1) starter weight and 2) 50 lb cast weights

Additional BM17972 50-lb cast-iron wheel weights may be bolted to the starter weight.
 
NOTES:
1. For 26-in. (660-mm) tire and rim only.
2. Starter weight not for use on all-wheel-steer tractors.

JD 72-lb Wheel Weights
Purchased a pair for my JD 345. Arrived quickly by UPS, but not packaged--UPS label stuck on weight itself. Some paint was chipped. The weights are heavy, mechanically robust, and allow attachment weights. I've got a 40 lb weight stacked on each. With Carlisle lug tires, great traction on my hilly property. The weights help with downhill traction. On steep areas, I’ll slide without 70+40 lb per lug tire setup. The weights make the tractor safer, which justifies their expense.
