John Deere Blade Control Cable - GC90194

Thanks to Green Parts stocking parts for these old mowers. Mine was purchased in 1998. However... while the part arrived well packaged and in new condition, the part was not manufactured correctly. Once installed, the "Blade Control Handle" would not return to the stop position, thus automatically stopping the blades. The return spring did not have enough strength to flip the handle up automatically. I contacted Green Parts support by Email and they promptly replied. We traded multiple Emails, photos and the like. I gave them a way to simulate my condition. Support said they took a new unit off the shelf and it work the way my new one did... I knew it was up to me to salvage this new part. I disassembled the new control handle and found it had the same return spring as the old unit. The return spring was not set up in its proper location with the correct "Pre-Load", which is hard to do. I corrected the new part and it now works properly. The only outstanding issue I see is that Green Parts now has a GC90194 on their shelf that also has a manufacturing defect...

Got the right part and in just a few days. The new part works smoother easier than the original ever did. Thank you

Well, part is crazy expensive, but I love this mower! I would have thought one could simply purchase the cable that wore out, but based on how it's put together, I can see the entire unit had to be replaced. Easy to change out!

I got my parts intact and installed and they did not work, I found the the return spring for the blade bar had come off. I disassembled the old one and then the new and found the problem. Put back together and adjusted- the mower has not worked this well for some time. I plan to repair the self drive unit next. I had had this mower for 27 years!! It always starts on the first pull and I would like to see a mower from today last this long!!! Now I am entering a new mowing season, thanks you guys!!!

Just like the other reviews, it was great quality, easy to install and it works much better than the old one ever did.

Took about 10 minutes to R&R and most of that time was spent finding tools and cleaning grass out of the drive unit. It's night and day better than the old one..

No problems using this part as replacement. Fits perfectly!

Was very happy to find this part that broke on our John Deere mower. It was also easy to replace
