John Deere Brake Shoe Spring - M84943

I purchased this kit for a John Deere D110 mower. Shipping was not free but came in a reasonable time and was packaged well. This spring came off the brake arm it is attached to which caused the brake to grind into the drive pulley. Fortunately, I discovered the problem before the pulley was damaged, but the brake was toast. I think the spring is overpriced as I discovered some springs afterwards that were just as stout and were half the price for five types of springs. Regardless of that, it fit perfectly and does the job as required. I noticed in videos that my model was an older one and in subsequent iterations of that model of mower, they replaced the spring with a rod that holds onto the brake with a nut. Good improvement. I bought the rod also, but it didn't come with a nut to secure it, and I couldn't locate one in my spare hardware parts. It wasn't worth the drive to go get a nut so I'm glad I bought both as now I have a backup rod if and probably when the spring comes off again.
