JD Time Delay Midule
Have GX345 and problem began with very hard starting for 2-3 starts, then would not start at all. Checked fuel flow first as I had a prior issue on another JD tractor and that was good. Checked spark plugs and found I had no spark so I replaced spark plugs and still no spark. After spending a lot of time checking electric connections, reading forums/reviews, and also talking with a JD mechanic, I still had not found the problem. Finally I came across this part and the reviews. Had one shipped to me and took about 15 minutes to install. Tractor started on first try. Excellent reviews helped me solve this problem and save a lot of $$$; Thank you. Great service and shipping from GPS; will order from here again.

So thankful for the past reviews for this $20 part. Have a JD GX345 with 270 hours on it and it would not start. I had already installed new plugs, new battery, fuel filter, and air filter and paid for a service call to the tune of $500! I still had no spark. After a three week run around from the Dealer who then suggested a $300 igniter, which I bought and installed myself, because they were too "busy". Still no spark. I removed and returned that part and did a Google search which led me to this part. I installed it and I am a "non-mechanical" GIRL! Started on the first try! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

saved my sanity
425 was only starting after 20 minutes of cranking. Replaced plugs, still no spark, going crazy.. until I found this clue online. Replaced time delay module and is like having a new tractor. Not only starts immediately, but runs perfectly again; no roughness, no cutting out. Wish I'd found it 3 months ago!

Fix for Finicky Starting 345
If your 345 has become finicky about starting for no reasons that you can find, and its engine is the FD611v, then changing THIS little component should FIX the problem! (no kidding). Minimal amount of tools required, and it shouldn't take more than 1/2 hour at the most if the older one was strapped-in deep. It's located on the Lower Left Rear corner of the Engine, near the Fuel Filter. Some accounts suggest these begin failure every 3-years. Mine began failure after 6, but I do probably not mow near as often/much as they do. Therefore it appears their failure is directly related to Operating-Time. Additionally, I suspect that the old one was also causing the engine to just 'Shut-Down' during normal operation for no apparent reasons. Then after repeated attempts, it would ReStart. Bottom Line: If your 345 w/FD611v engine is 'Finicky', for no reason,,,,, REPLACE THIS!

425 hard starting
Was having problems with hard starting, dying when mowing, then died completly. Google searched problem, so I invested $20 at a guess. Easy to install part, mower started right up, and so far so good. I'm very pleased! Greenpartstore was very prompt with parts shipment.

I had this problem at about 255 hours. It just stopped. The guy I bought the machine from is a skilled JD mechanic. He brought out a coil that we installed on the left side. Ran fine for about 20 minutes. I pulled the plug on that side and sure enough no spark. It started with the plug out and I limped back to the garage. I ordered a new one and installed it. No luck. No spark on either side. So I ordered another coil and ignition controller. Started right up and ran for a bout 10 minutes. No spark on either side. Then my friend did some research and found out about this delay module. I ordered this part and after 10 minutes of installation it fired right up. The message is that when one part goes, expect a cascade of failures. Buy all four parts, about $500. Now we will see if it happens at 500 hours. For those tempted to buy a couple cheapo Home Depot machines, don't. This thing is a dream: power steering, wide deck, stable, and the differential lock out is a life saver on my hilly property.

This Item was just the thing I needed, our JD 425 AWS is running so smooth my wife can't believe that was all that was causing the back firing at shut down and hard starting. 1300 hrs and it runs like new. I highly recommend you change out the ignition delay at first sign of hard starting.

Simple Fix
Shipping was fast (2 days). Tractor work like a charm now. Odd that this new version doesn't have a proper mount and just sort of dangles, but all my starting / stalling issues are cured so I ain't complainin'
