John Deere 42-inch Tow-Behind Lawn Sweeper - LPSTS42JD

The title pretty much sums it up for me. I'd love to give a detailed description but this site limits the number of words you can write. I bought mine in 2007 as a replacement for a sweeper that wore out too soon. This sweeper is made by Brinley and you can order spare parts very cheaply on their website. The problems that will occur are EASILY FIXED by the average homeowner. The only special tool I have had to use was a pair of snap ring pliers. A medium priced set will do. I was very,very impressed with my sweeper when it was new. It picked up far more grass (and still does!) than the other units I owned in the past plus it leaves your yard looking far better than the other sweepers do. My experience with sweepers is that regardless of price they are all cheaply made and problem prone. This unit is far easier to fix and it's parts are less expensive than the others. You should not encounter problems until the unit is several years old. With the others it will happen right away.

THe sweeper works great, but when I needed to replace the brushes I could not find anyone to show or tell me how to change them out. They need a replacement section for this or add it to the manual

Put the sweeper together, instructions could be better, but I did it in about 3 hours. Mowed lawn to mulch leaves without the sweeper. Then, attached sweeper and went around yard - wow - worked great - picked up everything !!! Really did a nice job. The only negative is when you pull up the rope to dump, it sort of dumps a little on top of the unit, but its not that big of a deal. Can not comment on quality yet, although the gears look like they could have been built a little sturdier. Due to this and only fair assembly instructions, I give 4 stars out of 5. But again - it worked great!!! No complaints there. Based on other reviews, I believe this is one of the best sweepers you can get. i did read in another review that it is easy to repair - that will be a good thing in the future.

Product is as advertised. It arrived quickly and in good shape. I have only had it for 1 week and used it one time, it worked like I expected and holds a lot of grass/leaves between dumps. Instructions for assembly are not good and you will definitely need at least 2 people for the job. Some parts should be marked as they appear very similar in the diagrams and can be installed in the wrong location. Much faster assembly the second time. I am satisfied with the purchase.

Easy assembly and vacuum parts pack aided the assembly process. Housing assembly arrived in damaged condition--no damage to container, so damage happened before shipment. Hamper rod bent, but was able to straighten to make usable. Works well with dry grass.

The product arrived quickly by UPS and outside box was a little crushed but not bad. The packaging was pretty good on the inside but you could hear some of bars hitting each other when moved (so that could be improved) Some of the bars were scratched up pretty bad but that is just cosmetic and i can repaint them black as needed. The unit went together easily and even though i am slow and methodical i had it but together in 45 minutes. The operation was awesome, it picked up grass, leaves and etc. just as expected. Other than the high price I would say it is a great investment for years to come and I am sure i will buy more parts from greenpartstore.
